Color Palette for Your Dining Room

Author: Sarika Kabra

When decorating your dining room, one of the main things to think about, other than the actual dining room furniture, is the color palette. You need to decide what color your dining room furniture will be, and also what color the walls, the paneling (if any), the accessories, linen, table china etc, will be, so that you have a harmonious whole rather than a bunch of disparate or mismatched elements put together in the name of a dining room.

There are certain colors that are best avoided in the dining room because they are thought to be appetite suppressants. It is thought, by proponents of Feng Shui and by certain other experts, that the color blue should be avoided when decorating the dining room. While you are unlikely to have blue dining furniture, you should also avoid blue to decorate the walls; this is because blue is not a color that occurs very frequently in nature. There are not very many natural foods that are blue in color and so the color blue is considered to be an appetite suppressant. Similarly the colors pink and violet are also thought to be appetite suppressants and are generally to be avoided in the dining room even if they may look nice in conjunction with your particular dining room table.

Yellow and cream are generally thought to be good colors to build a convivial atmosphere in the dining room. Yellow is a friendly and sociable color and is therefore thought to inspire conversation and interaction. Cream is a neutral color which is a good pick for the dining area simply because it is unlikely to clash with any of your dining room furniture, whichever hue that is. It is by itself a soothing color making it an ideal choice.

One great way to create some drama in your dining room is to have an accent wall: while you can have three walls of a neutral or light color, say cream, beige or white; you can color one of the walls a rich shade of maroon, or orange, or red. These colors will also off set your dining furniture especially if your dining furniture is in dark shades of mahogany or similar. Not only do bright colors such as orange and red look attractive and dramatic, they are also thought to be appetite stimulants. They are also warm and inviting colors, and therefore create a welcoming atmosphere in the dining room.

When picking a color palette for your dining room, not only is it important to color coordinate the color of the walls to the color of your dining room furniture, it is also important to pick a color according to the size of the room: for instance certain colors create the sense of space while certain dark or dense colors tend to dwarf the proportions of the room. It is especially important to use light colors if you have dark paneling in your dining room. Remember cool colors recede from the eye; warm colors come forward so keep all of this in mind when picking a color palette for your dining room.

Seducing Single Women - When Do You Make Your Move?

Author: Chris Tyler

Bring up the subject of seducing a woman and you will get some really diverse reactions. Some guys think that it is almost a taboo subject and others couldn't wait to know more. Some guys think that they have what it takes to seduce single women and other guys think they have no chance at all. Depending on where you stand right now with your experiences with women, you ought to know that seducing a woman is not really as complex as it might seem to be.

You have to learn what intrigues a woman sexually and what it is that drives her wild. You have to find out what it is that she lusts after and be the man that will give it to her. If you want to seduce single women, then you have to also be a guy that isn't afraid to take chances, either.

After all, you do face the possibility of rejection each time that you try. On the other side of things, the rewards are pretty sweet as well.

So, how should YOU go about how to seduce women?

1. Don't "try" to be a player if that is not who you are. You don't have to take on some wild image that is NOT you in order to seduce a woman. And to tell the truth, most guys that try to be a player with women end up anything but. They wind up being the kind of guy that women laugh at when he walks away. The kind that they remember, but NOT in a good light.

2. DO learn how to be engaging around women. You have to be able to get an interaction going with a woman if you are ever going to make the move on her. You can't just walk up to a woman on a cold approach and expect her to drop to her knees and fall for you. You have to know how to use your personality to trigger her attraction for you.

3. Make your move when the time is RIGHT. I know this sounds a little vague, but there is no set blueprint on exactly when the time is right to make your move on a woman. If you want to seduce a woman, then you have to get to know about her. Every woman is a little bit different than the next, and you have to be able to adapt in order to make your move on her.

The Rare Red Legged Honey Creeper

Author: Adrian Adams

The Red-legged Honeycreeper is a small, rare bird from the tanager family, typically found in various regions of Central and South America. These include southern Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and most parts of Brazil, and also in Cuba, and on the island of Trinidad and Tobago.

There is a slight difference when it comes to the Trinidad and Tobago Honeycreepers however, as they are slightly larger than the birds on the mainland. A typical Red-legged Honeycreeper is rather small in size, usually about 12 centimeters long and weighing about 14 grams.

The Honeycreeper coloring differs between males and females, with the females having a slightly paler, greenish coloring with a streaked light green belly and throat. The legs are reddish-brown, while fledglings have brown legs and even lighter shading. It is the male Red-legged Honeycreepers that really stand out in the wild, with their violet-blue bodies and black wings, black backside and tail, and extremely bright red legs. The crown of this species head is an almost neon turquoise, with a lemon yellow coloring under the wings.

After the breeding season, a male Honeycreeper will moult into a greenish coloring with black wings, and this will last for several months until his regular colors return. In terms of the females, they will build their nest on a tree branch in the form of a small cup, where the clutch of no more than 2 eggs will need to be kept warm for around 12 days. After the eggs hatch, the chicks will need another 14 days before they are ready to learn to fly.

Red-legged Honeycreepers have a slightly curved, soft bill, which requires them to each a special diet when kept in captivity. In the wild, the birds tend to eat insects, berries and nectar, sipping it through their long beaks easily. This also explains their tendency to live in small groups along the edges of open forests and woodland areas, while also enjoying congregating at citrus and cocoa plantations!

When building their nests, the Honeycreepers seem to stick to the mid-level of the forest canopy, which is where many insects live. Although they are rarely seen in the wild, Red-legged Honeycreepers are listed as a species of least concern on the endangered species list.

If kept in captivity for any length of time, the Honeycreeper will need to be fed through a nectar feeder and offered soaked fruits - though they'll happily accept pieces of sponge cake soaked in nectar! They can be bred in captivity, though any chicks that are hatched will need direct attention and live food for the first 14 days.

Make Up Brushes

Acne and Make-up Brushes

Author: Kristin Adams

Acne can be an extremely irritating, frustrating and embarrassing problem. Often women tend to blame their cosmetics or their diets, but sometimes the real cause of the problem can be something a little unexpected - your make-up brushes.

How Cosmetic Brushes Affect Acne

Cosmetic brushes are used more and more these days with the increasing popularity of high-end cosmetic use and mineral make-up. Generally using a quality cosmetic brush is much better to use in terms of overall cosmetic application and end result than using your fingers or a piece of tissue. However, you need to remember that without regular and thorough cleaning, cosmetic brushes can and often do harbour bacteria and dirt.

Your cosmetic brushes can contain millions of little bacteria and can cause various infections and skin problems such as acne. If you have been breaking-out often lately then take a look at your cosmetic brushes and see if they are as clean as they could be.

Think about it. When you wake-up each and every single morning you are putting your make-up on with your cosmetic brushes. You place them back in your bottomless make-up bag or your drawer and leave them there until the next time you apply your make-up.
You may also occasionally set your cosmetic brushes on your sink which may not be pristine. Perhaps they momentarily fall on the floor. You might not be able to bring yourself to throw away that discontinued blush (now expired as well) that you have had for 3 years now.

Your counter, drawer, cosmetic bag, floor and potentially expired cosmetics can all deposit bacteria into your cosmetic brush which you, in turn, brush on your face. Day after day you are potentially buffing bacteria picked up from dirty surfaces bags and floors onto your face, infecting your skin and clogging up your pores at the same time.

What Should You Do to Protect The Skin?

So now that you know your brushes could be a problem, what should you do to help your skin? There are many cosmetic brush cleaners on the market. Some are washes that resemble a shampoo and others are alcohol based sprays. If you use one of these products keep in mind that any chemical based residue from the cleaner could end up on your face. If your skin is sensitive this could further irritate you.

Want to really clean your cosmetic bushes? A good wash will really help.

1. First rinse each cosmetic brush under warm water to remove the superficial cosmetics from the brush.
2. Place a dot of natural, gentle shampoo on the bristle of each cosmetic brush and massage between your fingers.
3. Fill the bathroom sink with warm water and place the cosmetic brushes in there to soak for a few minutes.
4. Once the cosmetic brushes have had a chance to soak, rinse each brush under warm running water.
5. Dry each brush by first gently squeezing out any excess water.
6. Allow the brushes to air dry on a clean towel.

If your brushes are really dirty then it is possible that they may have contaminated your make-up, regardless how well your make-up is preserved. If you suspect this, throw away your cosmetics and replace them with new products. Always use a clean brush with a new product to ensure that you aren't contaminating the new product.

Also, remember that the majority of cosmetics don't have an indefinite shelf life so be sure to mark the date with a pen when you first open your cosmetics and throw them away when you have reached the standard expiration date.

Overall cosmetic brushes really do come in handy but their usefulness is entirely counterproductive to creating that flawless look if they are causing acne or skin issues. Acne is just one of the many skin conditions you can develop through dirty brushes and so it really is important to keep them as clean as possible. Rinse all your cosmetic brushes under the tap at least once a week and wash them properly at least once a month to prevent possible infections.
